Rain, Hailstorms Expected in Upper Pakistan While Southern Region Faces Intense Heat

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met Office) has predicted rainfall accompanied by wind and hailstorms in upper regions of the country, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, over the weekend (April 19–20).
According to the latest advisory, heavy rainfall with hail is likely at isolated locations, and citizens have been warned of possible damage to electric poles, trees, vehicles, and solar panels due to strong winds and stormy weather.
While the northern parts of the country brace for rain, southern regions continue to experience intense heatwave conditions. On Saturday, Nawabshah recorded a maximum temperature of 42°C, followed closely by Dadu and Larkana at 41°C. Temperatures reached 40°C in Jacobabad, Sukkur, and Ghotki; 39°C in Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalpur; and 37°C in Lahore.
Karachi reported a maximum temperature of 35°C, though humidity levels made it feel closer to 38°C.
On Friday, extreme heat was observed with temperatures hitting 47°C in Dadu, Sibi, and Shaheed Benazirabad, and 46°C in Khanpur, Padidan, Bahawalnagar, and Rahim Yar Khan.
